PAPPAMIA

A day after I came back, Xiaoyi wanted to meet me but I had to pick my aunt from the airport. Although Xiaoyi has moved all the way to Serangoon, she took the extra mile to have dinner with me at the airport while waiting for my aunt. However, I felt bad because I fell asleep (due to jetlag) after our dinner while Xiaoyi was browsing through a magazine.

My aunt’s arrival was at terminal 1 so we had no choice but to dine at PappaMia.

We were seated by a waiter at PappaMia. We had a variety of food to choose from the menu but Xiaoyi just ate dinner and I just had an appetizer with my bro at Bedok Point. So both Xiaoyi and I decided to order cendol to share. I also got the half-boiled egg because I miss this so much in Canada.

1st picture – I ordered 2 half-boiled eggs, also known as kampung eggs, because I miss consuming these. It is really easy to cook these eggs at home as long as you do not exceed 3 minutes but never beats the local atmosphere in Singapore. The half-boiled egg was done perfectly, not overdone and such !

ratings: 5/5★

2nd picture – For people who do not know, cendol consists of shaved ice, coconut milk, palm sugar and green colored worm-like jelly made out of rice flour and pandan leaf. This is a famous dessert in South-East Asia but it originated from Indonesia. The cendol was just average to me though. It did not taste very fresh but I finish it anyhow. Anything saccharine attracts my taste buds. I prefer cendol from hawker centre and such.

ratings: 2.5/5★

The second time I went to PappaMia was with my aunt and cousin. We came in the morning and the payment procedures were different. Previously, we were served by a server and we made payment only after eating. However this time, we had to go to the counter, order our food, make a payment and collect our food. I was pretty shocked on how their system works. Their workers are also not very helpful and the service is very bad.

My aunt, cousin and I shared the kaya toast because the portion is too much for a person. I got to admit that I have much lesser appetite in Singapore. I could only finish 2 half-boiled eggs and half slice of kaya toast that day. The kaya toast does not taste good though. The bread is too hard and thick, not suitable for kaya toast. (ratings: 2/5★) I stopped after eating it halfway and continue eating my favourite half-boiled eggs.

In conclusion, I do not recommend PappaMia for locals.
