#493 Blu Jam Cafe @ Melrose, Los Angeles

Posted by swisscheese on June 8, 2019 in brunch, cafe, eggs benedicts, french toasts, los angeles, western cuisine |

I was asking my cousins who used to study at LA on the cafes that serve delicious brunch dishes and from the list they have provided me with, the common cafe recommended by four of them is none other than the Blu Jam Cafe located at Melrose. Thus, I decided to set that place as the brunch meeting point between Laurie, Franny and myself.

Blu Jam Cafe
7371 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90046, USA
+1 323-951-9191

When I entered the cafe, I was the first few customers waiting for a table. Since Laurie was late, I waited at the waiting area, where you can rest and cool yourself down from the heat with a glass of fruit-infused water. As you can see, this was taken in October during the Halloween period as evident from the Halloween decorations. When Laurie and Franny finally arrived, it did not take more than five minutes before we finally got a table. We took awhile before deciding what to order but the server also gave good recommendations on their specialties so it was a lot easier to know what we wanted. Franny chose the Power House, which costs USD$15.95 and consists of grilled chicken on top of baby spinach lined with egg whites and topped with fresh tomato sauce and basil. The egg benedicts lover in me would never fail to order the Blu Jam Benedict Potato, which costs USD$14.95 and comprises of English muffin topped with a layer of crispy bacon, another layer of Black Forest Ham and poached eggs seasoned with hollandaise sauce. The dish also comes with grilled potatoes at the side when served. Since the Crunchy French Toast is highly raved here, we definitely had to order it! The star dish costs USD$13.95 and has grilled french toast rolled in crunchy corn flakes and topped with icing sugar, berries and vanilla bean sauce.

The Power House is not really my first choice whenever I have brunch in a cafe as I enjoy the usual french toast, eggs benedicts, waffles and pancakes but this dish was not bad and it is something I now look forward to after my exercise regime. The Blu Jam Benedicts Potatoes never fail to be so appetizing. I really love how they cook the potatoes to be so scrumptious as well! Needless to say, the Crunchy French Toast that everyone is yearning for is the best seller for all of us!

Immediately after our trip from Kawah Ijen, we made our way to Sukamade, which was a three hours car ride. We met up with our Sukamade guide at his home to pack up only for clothes and necessities required for one night & put the rest of our luggages in his home. After which, we […]
