It was the 3rd day of Lunar New Year and after visits to many relatives, my “Gou Cek” (5th Uncle) & “Sa Ko” (3rd Aunt)  brought us to Jemahdi to have delicious Indonesian food and seafood! It took such a long time heading from Petojo to Pluit and the traffic condition was so bad because it was around 5pm and everyone should know that traffic congestion is really bad in Jakarta, especially during peak hours.

Jemahdi has a variety of fresh seafood as portrayed in the pictures above. Jemahdi can host a lot of people in the restaurant. It was supposed to be an air-conditional place but like many Indonesian restaurants, their air-con doesn’t really help much. It was so warm inside! My “Sa Ko Tio” (Uncle) went to choose the fresh fish at the front of the restaurant so that we will definitely get the fish that he chose. He was the one making the order for us. In restaurants like this, their toilet is very run down. No flushing of toilets available.  You guys should head to Jakarta to give it a shot so as to understand what I am saying.

As we were so warm and thirsty, we decided to get something to drink to refresh our palate as well. My sister had the Jus Sirsak (Sour Sop – 1st picture), while I got myself the Aneka Juice (Avocado Juice – 2nd & 3rd pictures). Both the Jus Sirsak and Aneka Juice cost 16,500 Rp each. I will never fail to order avocado juice whenever I am in Jakarta but Bless My Soul! I really dislike the Sour Sop beverage – Not my cup of tea!

The food we shared in chronological order: Ikan Baronang (1st picture), Gurame Goreng (Fried Carp – 2nd picture), Tahu Isi (3rd picture), Kerang Bambu (Bamboo Shell – 4th & 5th pictures), Cumi Telor (Squid – 6th picture), Genjer Ebi (7th picture), Kangkong Transi (8th picture), Pete Bakar (9th & 10 pictures) & Kepiting Jantan (Male Crab – last picture).

The Ikan Baronang costs 66,000 Rp. We made an order for 4 serving size. I like this better than the Gurame Goreng as it is more moist due to its sweet sauce. Everyone was practically digging in and by the time I had my share, there were not much meat left.

Rating: 4/5★

No one touched the Gurame Goreng until my Sa Ko Tio and Gou Cek started the ball rolling. As you can see, it has a unique structure. Thus, we were all lazy to peel the meat and such. The Gurame Goreng costs 50,000 Rp. I found this above average but I do not really fancy dry food so did not have much of it.

Rating: 3/5★

The Tahu Isi  is basically fried tofu filled with carrot and vegetables filling in it. This dish is one of the healthier option for you. The dish costs 19,500 Rp.

Rating: 3.5/5★

From all kinds of dishes, I enjoy seafood the most, especially those shelled products such as mussels, clams and not to forget the BAMBOO SHELL! Chilli is essential when I consume seafood like these. I got to say that HANDS DOWN, this is one of the BEST dish over there!

Rating: 5/5★

Even in Filipino restaurants, I will never forget to order my squids (sisig)! Cumi Telor is just what I needed after not having my squids from Filipino restaurants in Vancouver for 5 months – Fresh, tasty & just what I needed!

Rating: 4.5/5★

I like the Genjer Epi more than the Kangkong Transi. I usually enjoy Kangkong but Genjer Epi have more edge to it.

Rating for Genjer Epi: 3.5/5★
Rating for Kangkong:
 3/5★

The Pete Bakar was something new to me. The way to eat it is to crack open the skin and lots of pete will flow out for you to eat! It is grilled and it is THAT good! Really nice to try a new dish that I have yet to try.

Rating: 3.5/5★

Lastly, who can ever NOT order crab in a seafood restaurant? My brother and I were the first to grab these sneaky little devils! I really enjoy crabs since I was young – especially chilli or black pepper ones. Too bad this crab was neither of the above! It had an eggy sauce to it but still, it tastes just as scrumptious!

The total bill came to 516,900 Rp without 10% tax. However, we had 50% discount as my aunt has a credit card affiliated with their restaurant. Thus, the total was only 310, 500 Rp. How value for money is this? YOU TELL ME!

CASH/CREDIT/DEBIT
Opens daily: Lunch: 11am – 3pm
Dinner: 6pm – 11pm

Ambiance: 6/10
Service: 6.5/10
Food (taste & appearance): 7.56/10
Value: 9/10

Total: 7.27/10★

In conclusion, Jemahdi is one good seafood restaurant that you MUST try!
