Before I went to Los Angeles last year, I managed to have lunch with Holly and Katelyn. Since we wanted something quick and casual, Katelyn suggested Au Petit Cafe.

Au Petit Cafe is located in between the 32nd and 33rd Avenue of Main Street. It is practically in the middle of no where. You have to go there by car or with bus 3. I was a little late getting there but both Holly and Katelyn were so understanding. The restaurant is a family restaurant. Thus, the servers and owners are very friendly. Katelyn could speak Vietnamese with them and that helped to break the ice too! Vietnam was previously colonized by France. Thus, the name of the restaurant is in French.

It was snowing that day so I had the Vietnamese coffee and pho to warm my soul! I am not a coffee drinker but I love their coffee because of the fragrance and taste. As for their pho, it helped me get through the cold but it is a very mediocre dish. You could find pho dishes like these in other Vietnamese restaurants. Katelyn told me that the Vietnamese Sub is their specialty so she was so sweet to order it for me to take it to the plane to eat. True enough, the baguette is baked well with the right crispiness and inner fillings. Au Petit Cafe definitely lives up to it’s reputation for having such awesome subs.

I was very surprised when Katelyn pretended to go to the washroom but paid the bill for all of us. She went to the extra mile to get the Vietnamese Sub for me to try as well. This is the first time I met her so I am thankful for her genuine intention.
