My sincere apologies as I have taken such a long time to update this space! I decided to take up a short-term Korean language and cultural program at one of the universities at Korea so I have been out and about most of the time. Check out my instagram for the latest update even though I do not even have time to update that either.

Again, this is long overdue as the Ong sisters and I had an impromptu dinner at Dharma Kitchen in late October last year. We were thinking where to go to and we only decided on Dharma Kitchen two hours before the meet up.

Dharma Kitchen is a Thai vegetarian restaurant located just three bus stops away from UBC via the 99B bus. When we went there during dinner time, there were not many people at the restaurant so we were seated immediately. The server made us feel at home so the restaurant was quite a cozy place to dine. The server also helped us take a few shots of us dining when we asked for assistance. Even though we ordered only a dish each, the servers were not rushing us to leave when we took such a long time to finish our food.

I got myself one of the brown rice bowl, which is the NuCao Bowl (1st picture – CAD$12.50). It comprises of brown rice covered with curried peanut sauce and topped with grilled marinated tempeh steak, grated beets, carrots, cucumber and bean sprouts. I felt like a cow having so much raw vegetables in my food. I really love vegetables if they are cooked but when it is raw, my appreciation of vegetables decreases drastically. I could not finish my dish as I was really full from the large amount of vegetables consumed so I took the remaining home. However, I did not manage to finish my food when I brought it home because the peanut sauce made the rice smell really bad when it is a day old. This is one reason why I never like these types of vegetarian restaurants because even though it seems healthy to be a vegetarian, so much peanut sauce are added to make the food tastes good. As for Wee Kee, she got the Little Buddha (2nd picture), which costs CAD$7.50. The dish consists of  jasmine rice topped with spinach, broccoli and steamed marinated tofu cubes. She had a choice of topping the dish with coconut gravy, miso gravy or thai peanut sauce. I forgot what Ser Gin ordered but I think she got the Bengal State Burger, which costs exactly the same price as my dish but tastes way better! It had grilled organic whole-wheat bun with red wine marinated tempeh, tomato slices and spinach served with curried peanut sauce on the side.
