When I just came back to Singapore last month, I constantly head to Marina Bay Sands as my relatives were  staying at the hotel there for a few days before heading to China. One night after accompanying my grandmother to the casino, we headed back to the hotel and had good quality time with my other relatives. Then, one of my aunt decided to go for shopping but I am not into offline shopping. After that, she came up with the idea to head to High Society. My cousin, Anderson and I immediately agreed and I dragged my brother over too.

I walked past High Society a few times when bringing my little cousins around the mall and I was very attracted by their pretty cakes and macaroons. I told myself that I will definitely go to High Society before I head back to Vancouver. Never did I imagine myself going there the very next day! That explains my excitement when my aunt suggested it. High Society is place segregated into two areas. One part of High Society is an exquisite dining area that serves high tea, meals and beverages and the other part is a “That CD Shop” (Founder of High Society record label) outlet – catered to people who love the High Society music series.

I have to say that High Society has a flawless interior! The flooring is made with chequer Italian marble and the lights come from their golden chandeliers. The service was impeccable as well!  We were attended to whenever we need assistance. We were having high tea so the procedure for our order goes like this:

1) We had to choose what cakes we want from the front counter
2) We are taken to our seat by the server
3) We order our drink from the menu
4) Our cakes and drinks will be served

1st and 2nd pictures – We ordered the Ispahan & Rose Raspberry Macaroon, which are separate items but this was a wrong move which I will elaborate later. The ispahan consists of raspberries with lychee cream being sandwiched by rose raspberry macaroon. To beautify things up a little, a large rose petal is placed on top of the macaroon. All 4 of us found that consuming both the ispahan and rose raspberry macaroon together is too much to handle. Firstly, both items are too sweet. I felt like I was basically eating sugar but in a more refined form. Secondly, since both items are almost the same flavors, they are both saturated with rose raspberry that eating too much of it makes it puke-worthy.

Ratings: 2/5★ for both items

3rd picture – We had ” A Love So Beautiful “, which is the name of their CD collections. It comprises of pistachio cream tart topped with a tinge of syurp-coated raspberries, blackberries, strawberries and blueberries. This is one of my favorite that we have ordered. Anderson enjoyed this very much as well ! The crust has enough crunch and the pistachio cream is light and creamy. The fruits are fresh and it added the right amount of sweetness to the tart.

Ratings: 4/5★

4th picture – I could not remember the name of this cake as we ordered it only at the last minute when we found that we wanted more variety of cakes to try. It is chocolate mousse cake coated with chocolate.  The high quality chocolate melts in your mouth as it is saturated with chocolate but I do not like anything too saturated. It is not my cup of tea but definitely suitable for chocolate lovers out there.

Ratings: 2.5/5★

The Strawberry Short Cake was the first choice for both my brother and I so we shared this cake with my aunt and cousin as well. I think this is my brother’s favorite cake as he loves strawberries and the cake is not too sweet. The Strawberry Short Cake is made with sable breton strawberries. For people who may not know, sable breton is basically like shortbread but it is made of egg yolks instead. The base of the cake is sable breton with half-sliced strawberries decorated at the edge of the cake and it is topped with vanilla and small toppings.

In conclusion, I had a pleasant experience at High Society and I am willing to come back to try their entrees and more of their desserts.
