#88 Rochor Original Beancurd @ Singapore

[EDITED] So before Janet, Lui & I went to Eminent Frog Porridge, we had desserts at Rocher’s Place. Janet gave us a treat and ordered the following for us – 3 egg tarts, 2 fritters, 4 soy beancurds, 2 cups of soy milk and 2 butterflies.
Both Janet and I did not like the egg tarts (last picture) as we found the one at Vancouver way nicer! The egg tarts at Rocher’s is very buttery as compared to the one in Vancouver. Egg tarts in Vancouver are more of the saccharine taste. The fritters are very oily but still tastes good with the soy milk. I cut down on my syrup intake for the soy milk in the future – Way too sweet! The butterfly is always my favourite dough of the day!

It’s been 4 to 5 years since I have met up with Yumin. Now that I’m back in Singapore for about 5 months, we met up to catch up for all the years we have missed ! I had to go to Bras Brasah to print my business cards and it so happens that Yumin’s school (SMU) is located at the same area as well. She told me that Rocher’s Original Beancurd is very close to her campus so we decided to head there after having the delicious wanton mee at Sunshine Plaza.
P/S: My laptops are currently sent for service. Thus, the lack of updates !

I remember back in 2006, I had to alight at Dhoby Ghaut MRT station and walk a long way past Park Mall in order to locate Rocher’s Original Beancurd. However, since Singapore has got the circle line now, it is so much easier to find Rocher’s Original Beancurd. Thanks to Yumin, I did not get lost ! Rocher’s Original Beancurd has not change a single bit ! I was very surprise by the many people they hired though. From what I could remember, Rocher’s Original Beancurd had 1-2 helpers before but currently, they have 5 or more helpers.
1st picture – I got the oh-so-famous bowl of beancurd for SGD$1.20. Wanted to get the hot beancurd but due to the warm weather that I am not used to, I got the cold beancurd instead. It is really sweet, smooth and to my liking – Definitely better than the beancurd served in Excellent Tofu and Snack LTD. Also, we do not have to add in ginger like that restaurant. It is served to us fresh and well !

2nd picture – I also got the cold cup of soy milk for a cheap rate of SGD$0.80. It is unsweetened as it does not have any syrup in it – tastes really refreshing during a warm (30 degrees) day and healthy without all those sugar and sweeteners.

I wanted to get you tiao to go with my soy milk, egg tarts, butterfly and other pastries but I was so bloated from my wan tan mee and soy products that I decided that I will visit Rocher’s another day.

in conclusion, Rocher’s Original Beancurd has always been my favorite beancurd place in Singapore and always will be – BEATS JOLLIBEAN/MR BEAN A HELL LOT MORE !
