Back in July/August 2011, my business partner and I were at Lougheed area doing a video shoot for his best friend’s wedding so I decided to bring him to Borandsi after we ate a heavy meal at California Sushi since I always need to end my night with desserts after my meals. As the saying goes, there is always enough room for saccharine delicacies.

danny brought me to this cafe when i was down in the dumps two weeks back. the cafe’s exterior was alright. it was a short walk from lougheed town center but i wouldn’t have noticed it if i’m walking past it.
as you can see from the interior, it is beautifully decorated with cell phone demos, drawings on the walls, doodles on the tables, zebra coated couches and such. the interior area is best to chill out during winter nights. this is because during hot and dry summer days, the couches and pillows make the customers perspire even more. the best thing about this place is the fact that they have WIFI. it also provides old school games at a rate of CAN$3.50 per game.
chicken rice – CAN$7++
the chicken rice is not your typical chicken rice from the food court or chinese restaurant. it is baked and coated with cheese and cream, thus a very unique dish. i would have eaten everything within seconds if not for the arrival of my brownie with ice cream !

brownie with ice cream – CAN$5.95
the brownie tastes good only with ice cream topped with nuts. the brownie was warm when served but i could tell that it wasn’t baked by the owner. from my opinion, it was baked using a ready made brownie package. oh well, guess the owner needed to make some quick bucks as well eh ? and i do not blame him for that.

cookies and cream gelato – CAN$4.94
the gelato tastes pretty different from other gelatos i have tried before. the gelatos at mondo and amato gelato are much harder as compared to the gelato at borandsi cafe. what i found adorable is the gelato is topped by fruit loops cereals. how cute is that, seriously ? the gelato makes me crave for more !

watermelon ice flakes (MEDIUM) – CAN$6.95
inez had this ice flakes and it was pretty refreshing for summer days as hot as this ! inez’s brain freezed and she felt cooler after consuming the ice flakes. i have yet to try it but i heard from nungki and sarah that it’s one of borandsi’s signature dessert. can’t wait to try it sometime next week with nungki ! it’ll be my third time heading there this summer !
strawberry & cafe mocha iced milk tea – CAN$3.45 each
banana strawberry fresh fruit juice – CAN$5.95
i tried the strawberry milk tea with pearls but didn’t like it. it had an artificial taste in it.

i ordered banana strawberry fresh fruit juice the second time i went there and it was as good as orange julia’s !

#3 visit
after having a good dinner at tamarind hill, fae, jason and i decided to hang out at borandsi cafe. i was very surprise to see the cute phones display being replaced by tables and chairs so more people will be able to dine at the cafe. also, the following drawings could be seen.
now for the entrance, i did some close up shots of the drawings too. you’ll be amazed once you enter the cafe for sure !
green tea & red bean ice flakes – CAN$11.95
all 3 of us shared an order of the large green tea and red bean ice flakes. so it consist of two scoops of green tea ice cream, red beans, rice balls and such. i do not really fancy the ice as it is not as smooth as frappe bliss. i really like the other ingredients though.

my overall ratings are as follows:
ambiance: 10/10 (perfect for chilling and perfect decorations for girls to snap shots)
service: 6/10 (owner is really nice and patient but his assistant is pretty rude)
food (taste & appearance): 6.27/10 (i guess after i try the ice flanks, the rating will go up ?)
value: 7/10 (might be a little expensive for some people but it is a good place for long chats, games and rest)
total: 7.32/10★
in conclusion, i will be coming back for more even though it is located far away from my place !
