Creamier Handcrafted Ice Cream and Coffee

In Singapore, once a food store gets famous, pictures of the food will be all over social media and everyone will head there by hook or by crook. Llaollao was an example and Creamier is no exception! Since I love waffles, pancakes and everything related to that, I have been wanting to try Creamier since I first heard about it a few months ago but never got the chance to head to Toa Payoh. Last week, my cousin was in town and as usual, I always love bringing her to try different cafes and food in Singapore. Since I had to pick her up at Newton after work, I thought that it would be a good chance to bring her to Creamier since the distance between Braddell and Newtown is not too far and so, we went!

Just like many ice-cream stores, Creamier is a very small cafe with limited seats and it is best to head there during afternoons of weekdays. In this way, you get to enjoy your desserts slowly. Since there were no seats inside the cafe by the time we arrived at 3:30pm, we made ourselves at home at the outdoor dining area. Similar to other cafes, you have to place your order at the counter, get a buzzer from the server and wait for your food to be served. We had a Waffle Set, which costs SGD$8.80 and comprises of 2 square waffles with a scoop of ice-cream. We added another scoop of ice-cream for SGD$2.80 and the entire set was topped with icing sugar and decorated with maple syrup and and chocolate sauce. My cousin never fails to choose Japanese Green Tea and Chocolate ice-cream flavours whenever she eats ice-cream so I just went ahead with her decision since I am a Matcha fan as well! One of the highlights of Creamier is their waffles as the waffles is firm and have an outer crust while maintaining its softness on the inside. However, we found the ice-cream very mediocre and I did not fancy the Plain Ole Chocolate ice-cream, which is dark chocolate ice-cream. Another aspect I look for in a good scoop of ice-cream is how long it takes to melt. Creamier ice-cream failed terribly as it melts as soon as we were served. How unfortunate, really!

OPENING HOURS:
Tue – Thu & Sun : 12:00 – 22:00
Fri – Sat: 12:00 – 23:00
Nearest Station: Braddell Station

Ambiance: 6/10 (Squeezy / not a cafe for leisure)
Service: 5.5/10 (Mostly self-service but the girl who served us our waffle set was nice enough to snap many shots of us)
Food (Taste & Appearance): 7/10 (Brownie points for the waffles)
Value: 6.5/10

Total: 6.25/10★

For such a highly raved cafe, I am disappointed yet again. I guess this always happens due to social media and word of mouth. Thankfully, the only saving grace for this cafe was the waffles but I will not travel all the way from the East to the Central/North for this though.
