#337 마포만두 @ Gangnam, Seoul
The day after BFF Vivian left Seoul, I decided to just take a few days to rest before meeting my Korean Vancouverites since I always fall asleep on the train due to my jetlag madness from Vancouver. So I just woke up anytime and went to roam around Gangnam to check out the restaurants. The roads in Seoul is a little crazy despite Gangnam being part of the CBD district. There are steep slopes and such so during the winter, it is essential to wear good boots at Korea. I came across this humble food place and decided to head in since I wanted to have something light.

As you can see, this is like a typical cozy food stall that you see in the Korean dramas. The servers there are “ajumma(s)” and they are not as friendly as they seem quite busy making the dumplings. However, since this place specializes in dumplings / 만두, I decided to try it!
FIRST VISIT: 10TH JAN 2013
I thought I was only getting dumplings but I never imagine myself to also order Noodle Soup as I was craving for noodles there and then. I ordered the following: 해물칼국수 / Noodle Soup with Seafood (3rd & 4th pictures) for 5,000 won & 김치만두 / Kimchi Dumplings (5th-8th pictures) for 3,000 won and it came with complementary dishes (1st & 2nd pictures). Trust me when I said I was so bloated after! I should have just gotten one dish as the complementary dishes will help to fill me up as well.
SECOND VISIT: 19TH JAN 2013
After volunteering at the Catholic Medical Centre, I went back to my hotel at Gangnam and decided to eat nearby. I thought of trying something new but decided to have 마포만두 once again. This time, I had 오징어덮밥 / Spicy Squid with Rice (2nd & 3rd pictures) for 5,000 won and 모듬만두 / Assorted Dumplings (4th & 5th pictures) for 3,500 won, which again came with complementary dishes (6th-9th pictures). And once again, I ordered too much – It’s no wonder I was growing sideways in my 32 days at Korea! The assorted dumplings came with traditional gaeseong-styled dumplings, as well as the usual dumplings. How cool is that really!!

What can I say? Seoul had so many local restaurants that it is impossible to try all of it!! This place is a cozy place for me to have comfort food on lazy days!
