Both Janet and Holly are coffee lovers. So when Holly recommended me to head to Elysian Coffee as it has the best coffee in town, I introduced this place to Janet. We decided to go to Elysian Coffee one day after church and desserts at Sweet Williams.

The cafe is pretty neat and cozy but really busy, especially on a Sunday. There is very few seats available as many people are using their computers and studying at the cafe. It is funny how there are so many people seated there when wifi is only available after 4pm though. I am really amazed by the awesome service though. Two male baristas catered to us recommending us amaretti for small bites and the type of coffee for Janet. They are so approachable and we had an engaging conversation.

Both Janet and I decided to get an amaretti each as we were so bloated from lunch at church and pavlova from Sweet Williams. I have never tried amaretti in my life before and I am so glad that I did it that time. Amaretti is basically an Italian almond flavoured macaron that is mildly sweet. Even though it is made with sugar, egg whites and almond, the sweetness is not as much as the usual colourful macarons you see in bakeries. Huge thumbs up for the great suggestion!

I do not know much about coffee and I detest bitter coffee and cannot go on drinking such coffee after a sip of it. However, Janet is a coffee lover and she loves the espresso served at Elysian. Cheers to Holly for the recommendation! Complementary sparkling water was also served to cleanse the palate before drinking the espresso. This is usually a European tradition as well, which is an eye opener for me to find such a cafe at the heart of Vancouver.
