#102 Delicious Boneless Chicken Rice @ Katong, Singapore
Earlier this month, Crystal and I wanted to celebrate Vivian so we booked an appointment with Teo Heng so that we can sing our lungs out. We decided to have dinner beforehand. Since Katong is known for delicious laksa, chicken rice and rojak, Crystal recommended the chicken rice store in Katong Shopping Centre so we went there.

It was only 6.30PM that day and the roasted chicken were already sold out. It so happens that the previous customer before me ordered a lot of roasted chicken. The stall is indeed a famous one as there were long line ups for it. The sellers did not have a very good attitude though. A lot of times when stalls like this is famous, they do not care what their customers really want.

As the roasted chicken is sold out, I decided to order the white meat one. One plate of Hainanese chicken rice cost SGD$4, inclusive of soup. I do not usually like white meat chicken because it is too dry for my liking but the chicken is really tender, soft and moist. The sauce and green onions accentuates the tasty flavourings of the chicken rice. The soup is different from any other chicken rice soup I have tasted before. It is boiled with chicken bone, achar and other herbs that brings out the peppery flavourings. I commented to Vivian & Crystal that the soup tasted like Bak Kut Teh’s soup. Unlike the cold Hainanese chicken sold in Canada, the ones served here are warm. This explains why when I first ate Hainanese Chicken Rice in Canada, I was furious.
