CLEAN EATING #13 – Vegan Green Smoothie

Vegan Green Smoothie

In addition to my healthy strawberry pancakes made on day 9 of my clean eating program, I also drank my homemade green smoothie at the side.

This is part 1 of my green smoothie journey and here comes part 2:

If you have read my entry on the Green Smoothie formula, you would have known that it is very easy to blend a cup of green smoothie. I use the following ingredients for my green smoothie:

  • 1/4 cup of mint leaves
  • 1/4 cup of parsley
  • 1/2 cup of kale
  • 1/2 cup of spinach
  • 1 cup of coconut water
  • 1 apple
  • 1 pear
  • 1 stalk of celery
  • 1 carrot
  • 5 slices of carrots

So in contrast to my previous green smoothie, I used coconut water instead of almond milk as the base and I added pear instead of kiwi. Needless to say, almond milk gives the green smoothie a more “milky” taste while coconut water gives the green smoothie a more refreshing taste and it will be totally different from your overnight oats. So if you want a different taste from your smoothie breakfast, use coconut water instead of almond milk for your green smoothie!

WHY I PREFER COCONUT WATER OVER ALMOND MILK FOR MY GREEN SMOOTHIE?

  • - Coconut water can hydrate just as well as water but unlike water, it tastes naturally sweet. In this way, it can aid digestion by absorbing food nutrients and regulate bowel movements.
  • - Coconut water can be used as a substitute for expensive energy drinks that comprises of artificial flavorings and ingredients as coconut water consists of less sodium and more potassium.
  • - Comparing milk to coconut water, coconut water is lower in fat but it keeps you full as well so it will decrease your cravings for other foods.
  • - Coconut water is a natural diuretics that help to cleanse the body from drugs in fluid forms and helps to prevent Urinary Tract Infection and kidney stones.

I hope that this summary of the benefits of coconut water enlightens you! I know that drinking green smoothie everyday is very essential for your health but I am still trying to practise it. I hope you will execute your plans into action too! Till next time!
