CLEAN EATING #22 – Wholeheartedly Combo Pack
I remember making this combo pack on the day my dad graduated from Nanjing University with a Master degree in Chinese Literature and History (the ceremony in Nanjing & Singapore were held on the 10th of June 2013 & 11th of January 2014 respectively). It was definitely a day to remember as my dad spent years developing on his thesis ‘公与私之间:金童 “射雕” 三部曲再研究’ / ‘Common Good Vs Individual Rights — Jin Yong’s The Legend of the Condor Heroes Trilogy Revisited’! I am very proud of his achievement. Thus, the very meaning behind this combo pack.
A. WHOLEHEARTEDLY OVERNIGHT OATS
The ingredients that helped achieved this wholeheartedly overnight oats are as follows:
- - 4 blackberries
- - 1/2 mango cut into 13 cubes
- - 1/2 plums
- - 1/3 red dragonfruit
- - 1/4 kiwi
- - 1/2 cup of silk unsweetened soy milk
- - 1/3 cup of greek yogurt
- - 1/3 cup of rolled oats
- - 1/2 tablespoons of chia seeds
After assembling all the ingredients, I did a step-by-step pictorial instructions so it is easier for you readers to visualize and replicate the recipe out for yourself. So ready or not? Here it goes:
So as you can see from the pictures, I placed the ingredients according to the following list:
1) rolled oats
2) chia seeds
3) blueberries
4) plums
5) kiwi
6) greek yogurt
7) soy milk (so that the milk will not splash when the other ingredients are already inside)
8) red dragon fruit (to give the milk a natural and beautiful pink colour)
After which, I mixed the entire drink together and topped the mason jar with the following fruits in chronological order to beautify it:
- 1/2 mangoes
- slices of kiwi
- 1/2 plum
- heart shaped red dragonfruit
B. WHOLEHEARTEDLY FRUIT INFUSED WATER
As for the fruit-infused water, it was a no-brainer task as I threw the fruits in alternatively after cutting them into slices:
- - 1 lemon
- - 1 lime
- - 3 strawberries
- - 1/2 zucchini
- - a stalk of mint leaves
The entire combination is really cooling yet sweet and tarty at the same time – very refreshing to the palate!
… and the final outcome is as follows:
TA-DAH!! What a beautiful drink presentation to commemorate my dad’s graduation, CHEERS!
