WOLO HOTEL

I knew that I had to go to Kuala Lumpur for business trip this week but since my HOD was on business trip last week, I had no choice but to wait for him to be back this week so that he can sign my travel approval. My travel approval was only signed on Tuesday, the day before I flew to KL. We wanted to stay at Hotel Istana or Concord Hotel but the hotels were full so my account manager suggested Wolo Hotel. I went to research about this hotel and found it quite hip and cool so I agreed to it.

At the heart of Bukit Bintang lies a funky Korean hotel called Wolo Hotel. This hotel is at a very strategic location opposite Lot 10 and a walk away from Sungei Wang Plaza, Low Yat Plaza, Pavilion and Jalan Alor. From the hotel, it is also easily accessible  to KL monorail station, which connects you to KLIA Ekspres via KL Sentral station. How convenient? The room rates are also not very expensive (about SGD$60+ per night?)  for a 4 star hotel so I think that if I were to come here for a leisure trip next time, I will definitely stay in this hotel again! As you can see from the pictures above, the hotel looks just like many cafes at Korea. Name Caffe Bene, Beansbin and any cafes in Korea that you can think of – the outlook of the cafes with bricks exterior and interior look exactly like Wolo Hotel! We have to check in on the second floor, which can be seen from the third picture onwards. Since Deepavlali is held next week, there are plenty of Deepavlali decorations and greetings in malls, on the streets and even in the lobby of this hotel as depicted in the last picture. The background of the counter as seen in the second last picture is decorated with recycled items such as paper cups, plastic cups and plastic spoons. You are able to see the dining area at the ground floor from the 4th picture. There is a small reading area as seen on the 5th picture. The 8th picture portrays that this hotel has won many awards!

The room booked for me is a deluxe room, which is bigger than a superior room. The structure of the room is quite unique in the sense that when I enter the room, I have to turn right and walk past the washroom (3rd picture) before I get to see my bed (2nd picture) for the night. I love hotels which put thought to having welcome greetings (1st hotel) once you enter the room and I enjoy having a view from my room although mine was just a view of Lot 10. I am not sure if everyone would like their shower place to be separated from their toilet bowl but this idea is pretty neat for me! What I found weird about this room is the wardrobe and basin with mirrors (6th & 7th pictures) being parrallel to the bed! As I watched Paranormal Activity the previous week, I’ll close the basin area (4th & 5th pictures) to avoid imagining things from having two mirrors being parrallel to my sleep. I travel alone at times but after watching horror movies, I will tend to imagine crazy things so I have my television up all night to keep me asleep! Overall, the room was decent except that I did not have much sleep because I had to spend time clearing my emails and doing work. This always happens on both my business trips!

Breakfast Buffet

Breakfast was provided with my stay and it was held in Tous Les Jours on the ground floor. Although the breakfast buffet section does not have much variety, they had the basics which included lots of pastries, eggs, two choices of cereals and fruits and a few other breakfast items such as bacons and hotdogs. There are plenty of Tous Les Jours cafes at Seoul and they also open up some branches at Jakarta. Since Tous Les Jours is a French bakery, I love their freshly baked pastries so although I try to avoid consuming carbohydrates and bread, I could not help myself during that breakfast buffet. Had a long conversation with my mentor, which resulted me to keep eating. Totally enjoyed the breakfast we had although the choices were limited!

NEAREST STATION: Bukit Bintang Monorail Station

This hotel is reserved for the people who are young at heart and loves artistic interiors. I love how the trip up the elevator and from the elevator to my room is not too quiet as there are lovely music to lighten up the atmosphere.
