野柳 / Yehliu

Funny how it was very  sunny on most of the days that we were in Taiwan last November but on the days when we went to Yehliu and Jiufen, it was windy, drizzling and chilling. The worst thing was I was wearing a long sleeve Korean dress and pumps without any leggings because I thought it will be warm like the rest of the days.

When we went to Yehliu, we were blown away by the beauty of the sea-erosion landscape. The majestic rock formation was due to the geological forces that pushed Datun Mountain out of the sea just amazing! They had it in all sorts of shapes, namely Ginger Rock, 仙女鞋 / Fairy Shoe (2nd & 3rd pictures) and the most popular being the 女王頭 / Queen’s head / (8th and last picture). With November and December being the peak season to travel, there were tonnes of people lining up to snap a shot of/with the Queen’s head. I found it quite annoying being with a tour group as we only had about half an hour at Yehliu Geopark and you can hardly deepen your understanding of culture and origin of the place. There are plenty of Seafood restaurants at Yehliu that serves fresh seafood (1st picture) for your dining leisure. However, since we were wet and messy despite using poncho as it was raining quite crazily, I did not snap many shots of the food. I was so grumpy being a little wet from the rain. Moreover, the servers were rude so there’s nothing much to rave about the restaurant. I forgot to mention that prior to our lunch at the Seafood restaurant, we walked through an outdoor Taiwanese market selling souvenirs, finger food and dried packaged food but did not get anything from there.

OPENS 7:30AM-5PM DAILY (EXTENTION OF TIME UNTIL 6PM DURING THE SUMMER)
COST OF TICKET: NTD80 for adults; NTD40 for students
TRANSPORTATION: BUS1815 FROM TAIPEI WEST BUS STATION

Once again, I really need to make a trip there on my own so I can have a better picture of Yehliu, both literally and figuratively.
