llaollao

So recently, there is lots of hype in Singapore for this yogurt that originated from Spain. Last Wednesday, my cousin came over to Singapore and so, I brought her around. While walking around Somerset313, Mandy and I were shocked when we went to Somerset 313 and saw many people lining up just for a cup of yogurt. We were wondering what was the fuss about but was lazy to queue up for it. We decided to try it the very next day at Marina Square since the line up there is not as long as the one as Orchard.

We got lost while looking for llaollao located at Marina Bay Link that I even had to make a phone call to llaollao asking them for directions. I saw some people carrying cups of yogurt while strolling along Marina Square so I asked them for assistance on making our way there. It is actually very easy. From Lady M cafe, head to the nearest elevator nearby and take the lift down to B1 and llaollao is just around the corner. My third aunt, cousin and I decided to share a cup of sanum yogurt (SGD$6.90), which consists of the original yogurt, a choice of crunch, three fruit choices and a sauce of your choice. Mandy chose the round CRUNCH for crunch. Our choice of fruits were pineapple, strawberry and kiwi and Mandy decided to top the yogurt with chocolate sauce. After a few scoops of the yogurt, we found that there is NOTHING special about this yogurt place. It is rather typical and it is not worth queuing up for ages just for this. Mandy preferred Sour Sally from Indonesia than llaollao and my third aunt preferred Pinkberry from LA than this. As for me, I found all the yogurt places in LA and Vancouver better than this – Yogurtland, Menchie’s, etc – You name it, I love it!!

After my Zumba and Kpopx Fitness class with Laurie on Sunday, Laurie and I shared a plate of brunch dish at Assembly before trying the llaollao that was recently open at Plaza Singapura. Even though the queue was long, it was quite fast before our turn came as there are more servers in this branch. I got a cup of sanum yogurt that comprises of almond crocanti (crunch), strawberries, blueberries & pineapples (fruits) topped with raffaello sauce. I was asking the server which is their most popular sauce and she suggested raffaello. It is rather sweet and sticky as it is made up of coconut, white chocolate, brittle and biscuit – Definitely not good for someone who is putting on braces! As for Laurie, she was asking the server which was the healthiest sauce and they told her that the coffee sauce is one of the less sweet sauces. True enough, it was but it tasted so good as it brings out the true flavor of the coffee. I am still very disappointed with the quality of the yogurt though. The website claims that the yogurt does not melt easily but it did. Even though you are a quick dessert eater, 1/4 of your yogurt will melt by the time you reach the bottom. Laurie also did not fancy llaollao as compared to other yogurt stores she has tried.

Nearest Station: Dhoby Ghaut

Ambiance: 7/10 (Since it is new, it is cleaner than the one at Marina Bay Link)
Service: 6.5/10 (More servers to help out with our yogurts and wipe the table clean)
Food (Taste & Appearance): 5/10 (Good presentation but the fact that it melts quickly puts me off)
Value: 5/10

Total: 5.88/10★

llaollao does give generous topping for their yogurt but it melts too easily and that makes me so disappointed. Lydia and I also concluded that the lineup for llaollao is long not because the yogurt taste good but firstly, it is a fad that will die down in time to come and secondly, the service is too slow and inefficient. Enough said.
