#160 TWG Tea on the Bridge @ Marina Bay Sands, Singapore
Sometime in March, my grandmother and first aunt came from Indonesia and stayed in Marina Bay Sands Hotel when they had their vacation in Singapore. I decided to stay there as well since I was working at Marina Bay Sands previously. One fine night, my brother was accompanying my grandmother at the hotel so my sister and I decided to dine at TWG.

We were contemplating dining either at TWG at the Garden or TWG by the Bridge but we chose the Bridge instead because it is a more unique dining experience as you can see from the pictures above. It was 10pm when we entered TWG and the kitchen was already close at 9.45pm. We had no choice but to order the cakes and macarons displayed and two teapots of tea. Our server, Jackie is a really patient lady! She did not mind us taking endless pictures of the food even though they were rushing to close the store. She also helped to explain what’s their speciality and the ingredients in the food we ordered. Definitely two thumbs up for the great service!
FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD!
Here’s everything we ordered – two teapots of tea, 1 set of tea infused macarons (8 pieces) and 2 slices of cakes!
TEA INFUSED CAKES
I ordered the oh-so-popular Singapore Surprise depicted in the first picture, while Bella had the Mille Feuille as shown on the second picture. The cakes are made with high quality ingredients and thus, it costs SGD$9.50 each. Singapore Surprise is widely ordered by many Singaporeans and hence, the server recommended that cake. It comprises of wild strawberries and custard cream topped with caramelized sugar and infused with vanilla bourbon tea. This explains why Singapore Surprise is a light cake with airy layers in between the crispy surface of the cake. As for the Mille Feuille, it consists of custard cream filled with raspberries and topped with flakes coated with icing sugar. I only had a bite of Mille Feuille as it tasted pretty odd to me.
Ratings of Singapore Surprise: 4/5★
Ratings of Mille Feuille: 2.5/5★
TEA INFUSED MACARONS
We ordered a box of assorted macarons to share and each box consists of 8 pieces (SGD$16 altogether – SGD$2 each) of macarons. The following description is the flavours of the macarons:
Yellow Macaron: Macaron infused with Lemon Bush Tea
Dark Brown Macaron: Praline Macaron infused with Camelot Tea
White Macaron: Macaron infused with Moroccan Mint Tea
Light Pink Macaron: Macaron infused with Bain de Roses Tea
Brown Macaron: Chocolate Gauche Macaron infused with Earl Grey Fortune Tea
Black Macaron: Caramel Macaron infused with Napoleon Tea
Hot Pink Macaron: Blackcurrent Macaron infused with 1837 Black Tea
Purple Macaron: Passion Fruit and Coconut Macaron infused with Grand Wedding Tea
The macarons at TWG were not too bad as a whole. It is not as sweet as many macarons I have tried in places like Canele and High Society. The usual macarons will be filled with buttercream but TWG fill their macarons with a different approach – either with chocolate ganache or milk. The surface of the macaron is also baked properly as it is not very brittle and does not easily crack like Canele’s macarons. Earl Grey Tea infused macaron was the best macaron of the lot! The macaron had a light and subtle taste, which is what I look for in macarons! Again, I do not like overwhelming saccharine desserts so Lemon Bush Tea infused macaron is perfect for my palate as it tastes more fruity than sweet. The worst of the lot would be the Napoleon Tea infused Macaron as the caramelized macaron is very sticky and too sweet for my liking so it is definitely not my cup of tea. I will give the other macarons an average rating of 2.8/5★
Ratings of Earl Grey Tea infused macaron: 4/5★
Ratings of Lemon Bush infused macaron: 3.5/5★
Ratings of Napoleon infused macaron: 2/5★
COFFEE, TEA OR ME?!
I had the Sweet France Tea while Belle had the Grand Wedding Tea. Each teapot of tea costs SGD$11 and it is non-refillable once the water in the teapot is gone. The Sweet France Tea consists of green tea with exotic flowers and a tinge of chamomile. It has a flowery taste and is soothing to the palate. As for the Grand Wedding Tea, I had a sip of it and immediately told Belle that I did not like the tea as it smells like urine to me. The Grand Wedding Tea is black tea blended with flowers and exotic fruits though. I did not manage to taste the fruity tea or smell the fruity fragrance, what a pity!
Ratings of Sweet France Tea: 3.5/5★
Ratings of Grand Wedding Tea: 2/5★
HERE COMES THE BILL
The total bill was SGD$67.10 inclusive of 7% GST and 10% service charge but we gave the server SGD$70 in total as we wasted a lot of their time when they were supposed to close the store.
