#187 Ecreative Catering and Cakes @ Singapore
My apologies for the short hiatus as I was packing to reside back at Vancouver and I just land at YVR yesterday noon! So anyhow, I should continue updating on the remaining food entries of Singapore (which is a lot!), before feasting in Vancouver! It was many colleagues and my last day at MS in mid July so I was thinking of ordering a customized cake for our company to give my colleagues a treat. I had only 3 days to order the cake as I was so busy with overtime sessions before! I went through lots of customized cakes shop and they could not customize a cake for me within three days. Thankfully, Ecreative was able to quote me a price and complete the customization in three days’ time!

I did not even have to visit the shop or step out of the office to order or collect the cake. All I did was call the number and ask if it is possible to customize the cake within 3 days, email them the specifications of the cake and and they will deliver the cake at the particular time requested free-of-charge! So I corresponded with Lela via email (order@ecreative.com.sg) asking her to quote me a price on the following cakes:
The first round cake was quoted at SGD$120 for 2kg.
The second laptop cake was quoted at SGD$280 for 3kg.
The third aeroplane cake was quoted at SGD$420 for 3kg.
All cakes are subject to 7% GST!
I asked Quan Sheng and Philip for their opinions and Quan Sheng told me to get the first cake as I should not waste so much money on the 3rd cake. After contemplating for a few hours, I replied back to Lela at 5PM on the 10th of July 2012 that I wanted the first round cake, excluding the Windows 7 logo and instead, include the Microsoft logo in it. Lela responded to me via phone the next day saying that it can be done by the 12th of July. I called Lela to make some changes on the day itself as well. I wanted the Windows logo to have a popup of 1cm. This costs an additional SGD$10. Also, I decided to ask Lela to deliver the cake on the 13th of July instead of the 12th of July so that we can have the farewell ceremony at tea break that day! Lela is really very accommodating and compromising with my never-ending calls and requests and I salute them for their excellent service!

1st picture – On the 13th of July 2012, the driver forgot to bring his cellphone so he went to the reception at the other lobby and got them to call me to collect the cake. I was happy to receive a huge box of customized cake and got Quan Sheng to carry the 2 kg of cake for me!
2nd picture – During tea break at around 3pm that day, my batch mates and I decided to open the box together and ta-dahhh, it was a fine-looking pretty “duplicate” of the picture of my order, except that it is tailored to my requests. The 2kg of cake could feed almost the entire company and a lot of my colleagues were asking me where did I get the cake from. Stephanie enjoys the cake a lot and says that I always buy good cakes! The cake itself is chocolate cake and although, it is a little creamy for my liking, I am satisfied with the outcome of the appearance!
In Singapore, everything is expensive so a customized cake like the above is SGD$120 for a 2kg cake. With an additional 1cm popup for the windows logo, there is an additional costs of SGD$10. The total bill costs SGD$139.10, inclusive of GST. I could get a way cheaper 3D customized cake with more complicated designs at Vancouver but this will do just fine for now.
