This space has lots to be updated about but unforeseen circumstances always puts me on hiatus for a bit. Had to be in Jakarta suddenly two weekends ago due to heavy duty so that explains my absence once again. Anyway, another long overdue entry about the oh-so-famous fast food chain – Chipotle Mexican Grill.

As I have mentioned in my previous entries, my third uncle (Sa Ko Tiu) is a very adventurous person so he brought all of us to Chipotle to try Mexican food before we went to The Grove to roam around. This was definitely my first time there. If you do not already know, there are many branches of Chipotle in Los Angeles but there is only one outlet in downtown Vancouver. I have never been a fan of fast food so no matter how good In-N-Out Burger and Five Guys are, I will not try it. However, Chipotle Mexican Grill is definitely one of the better fast food I have ever had.

Let me give you a little summary of Chipotle: The animals that are used for Chipotle’s food and production such as cheese and sour cream are raised in their natural habitat without any added antibiotics or hormones. Most of the ingredients used at Chipotle are organic, local and from family owned farmers who are good stewards of their land.

At Chipotle, you have a choice between burrito, tacos, salad and burrito bowl. For each option you choose, you get to choose what you want to fill it with. For instance, you can choose between chicken, steak, vegetarian, carinitas or barbacoa. The starch choices ranges between cilantro-lime rice, pinto or black beans and you can have salsa, cheese or sour cream for your sauces. The guacamole is also a bonus! The burrito bowl (USD$6.25) itself consists of cilantro-lime rice, black beans, chicken, roasted chili corn salsa and cheese. I just had the burrito bowl that Sa Ko Tiu ordered for me and boy, does it tastes good for a fast food place! The meat is cooked very well with tenderizing seasonings and the sour cream enhance the taste even more. The portion and price are very worth it and the bowl only has 620 calories. Of course, I cannot finish the entire bowl on my own so I shared it with Sa Ko & Mandy.
