I realized that even though I went to China twice in 2013, I have not pen down any reviews about the food or attraction there. So after my Hong Kong trip in 2013, I went to Nanjing for a few days to attend my dad’s thesis debate. Since we stayed at Mandarin Gallery Hotel, the mall closest to our hotel was Aqua City. Thus, dad would often bring me there to have meals. We are always spoilt for choices on what to eat but this time, we chose 五福门.

I find that whenever I snap shots of the restaurants and food in China, the servers would often grin at me. I have no idea what is the specialities in Nanjing so I let my dad place the order. We shared 狮孑头炖菜核 (3rd & 4th pictures), 老汤炖素鸡 (5th picture), 鱼香茄子 (6th & 7th pictures) & 粽孑 (8th-10th pictures), which costs 32元, 22元, 22元 and 8元 respectively. The food in Nanjing is scrumptious although many dishes are really oily!! Just look at the amount of oil at on the eggplant and you will understand what I mean! We ordered the 粽孑 because it was close to Dragon Boat Festival but it tastes rather ordinary. The most outstanding dish to me was the 狮孑头炖菜核. The juiciness of the meatball tastes heavenly! Other than that, the rest of the dishes was just average.
