#247 Motomachi Shokudo @ Downtown Vancouver, Vancouver
Fine was about to leave Vancouver for more than 2 months.. I couldn’t believe that she would leave before me so we decided to have dinner together. As I am always craving for ramen in Vancouver, Fine suggested Motomachi Shokudo and so we went there.

Ci Retty actually brought me to Motomachi before back in February last year and I really enjoyed my dining experience there so of course, I had to go back there again! The servers are quite friendly but the seating arrangement is a little awkward for me. I do not really enjoy communal dining as I really prefer having private conversations with my friends over dinner. We were seated at the corner of a large rectangular table.
I got the Dark Miso Ramen (1st-3rd pictures – CAD$9.75) while Fine had the Shio Ramen (4th picture – CAD$8.95). The Dark Miso soup is made with powdered bamboo charcoal blended with rich miso soup. The ramen dish also consists of bamboo shoots, soft-boiled local organic egg, green onion, BBQ pork, thinly sliced chili pepper, white pepper, seasonal green vegetable and chili pepper powder. I like the idea that this restaurant uses local and organic egg for their soft-boiled egg. We have to learn to practice sustainability in order to protect our planet. The Dark Miso Ramen has a light taste that cannot beat Jinya’s concentrated broth. In a way, it is much healthier than Jinya Ramen and I appreciate subtle taste like that. Fine was enjoying her Shio Ramen as well but she prefers Santouka Ramen.
