Our best domestic helper of 5 years was leaving on the 5th of August so we decided to have a farewell dinner with her on the 1st. She was fasting during that period and wanted a restaurant that serves rice so we decided to head to Sushi Tei for dinner.

We had to wait for about 5-10 minutes for a table for 6 pax. The restaurant is huge and we were  seated on a table with rectangular couch surrounding each corner. Sushi Tei definitely caters to family dinners and large group dining. The service there was not good as the person taking our orders was very rude and really need to brush up on her customer service skills.

We shared quite a number of things but I could only snap a few photos as my brother would just grab the food without allowing me to take pictures.

For myself, I had the Oyako Don (1st picture), which is chicken topped with egg on rice. It costs SGD$9.50 and I do not think that it is value for money. Even though the chicken-egg combination tastes decent, there was too much rice and very little meat and egg in it. The portion is also very small but I guess that is how it works in Singapore?

We also shared the Kaki Yanagawa (2nd picture), which costs SGD$10. It consists of oyster with burdock root and egg – I figure that anything with egg will definitely not go wrong and it was true!! The food is again, another mediocre dish!

My brother had the Salmon Ikura Oyaka Don (3rd picture), which costs SGD$16 – I did not try it but for such a small portion, the price is quite steep!

Another set that we shared was the Sashimi Moriawase, which costs SGD$18. The set consists of Kanpachi, Salmon and Mekajiki Sashimi. I have to say that Sushi Tei serves way better sashimi than Sakae Sushi but the sashimi is still quite thin and flimsy. It is definitely not as fresh as the sashimi served in Vancouver. That is one reason why I seldom consume sushi or sashimi in Singapore as it is either not value for money or low quality.

We also ordered other food such as the Soft Shell Crab and Ika Sugata Shio to share but again, I did not have time to take every picture thanks to my brother!
