When Uncle Victor, Alicia, Dad, Bro and I met up to dine at Real Food, Uncle Victor recommended Rich & Good Cake Shop as he knows that I indulge a lot on food.

Uncle Victor made a call to check if kaya roll is available and since it was available, Uncle Victor reserved the last piece for us and drove us over to purchase the swiss rolls. We had to rush because the swiss rolls are out of stock at a rapid rate. Uncle Victor dropped Alicia, my brother and I off at the entrance of Rich & Good Cake Shop and drove elsewhere to wait for us because there was no waiting area at that place. The outlook of the place looks very old-school and vintage. The store is amongst one of the shophouses near Arab Street. Vivian and I went there the second time and it was quite difficult to get there by foot so we had to use her iPhone GPS for help! One thing you cannot expect much is the atrocious service at Rich & Good Cake. Firstly, they prefer exact change and secondly, they are very rude when you have an enquiry. They prefer you to just purchase your item and just leave.

Alicia got the strawberry and coffee swiss roll for her family while my brother and I had the kaya (3rd picture) and coffee swiss roll (2nd picture). I was amazed by how the rolls turned out to be. Although the kaya roll had a slightly artificial taste, the filling is kaya spread with a tinge of coconut in it. That should explain why the kaya roll (SGD$7.50) is the best seller of Rich & Good Cake Shop! Usually swiss rolls are just filled with artificial flavoured cream but the coffee roll has authentic coffee cream on it, which makes it so delectable! (SGD$6.50) The rolls are also very fragrant and you can smell it without opening the box! I also distributed some coffee rolls to my colleagues and they enjoyed it a lot.

Since the swiss roll was so good, I decided to head back with Vivian to try other flavours of the swiss roll. It was only 3pm on a weekday but the kaya roll was already unavailable. So I decided to get 2 of whatever flavours that was left. From the first picture, it shows that I got 2 boxes of each flavour – strawberry swiss roll (SGD$6.50), coffee swiss roll (SGD$6.50), mango swiss roll (SGD$7.50) and durian swiss roll (SGD$7.50).

The best thing about the swiss roll in this store is:
1) All the fruit-flavoured swiss roll has the natural flavour of the fruit for the filling of the swiss roll.

2) The swiss roll has a soft tetxure but it can be cut into slices easily without crumbling.

The strawberry swiss roll is really appealing to the eyes, nose and taste buds. The smell of the strawberry swiss roll is so alluring that consuming it makes me imagine the sweet strawberry taste! I did not fancy the mango swiss roll as much but it is still better than the average swiss roll sold elsewhere. The filling had chunks of mango and mango cream on it, which is an added value to the swiss roll. I have to declare that the durian swiss roll is the BEST swiss roll that I have tried in my life! The smell is really aromatic (in myopinion) and has natural durian cream and durian pulp fillings on it. I distributed a few boxes of swiss roll to my friends and their families and them love it to bits! One of them even bought 4 boxes of durian roll and 1 box of kaya roll for his relatives in Hong Kong and all of them applauded the delicious rolls.
