A lot of my relatives come to Singapore from Indonesia from time to time and when they are in Singapore, we will have dinner together in a restaurant. We decided to dine at Paradise Inn as my second aunt prefers the food there.

As my aunt is using wheelchair to move about, Paradise Inn is big enough to cater to such needs of the customers. The servers are also nice to arrange the table in such a way that it allows my aunt to sit comfortably. We went there thrice for our family dinners and the service is impeccable, not to mention very meticulous. The outlook of the restaurant looks very beautiful and Paradise Inn is just like a typical Chinese restaurant that caters to huge number of people.

Our family shared the Hot-Plate Tofu (2nd picture), Stewed Pork Belly with Lotus Bun (3rd-5th pictures), Imperial Pork Ribs (6th picture), Cereal Prawns (7th picture), Steamed Eggplant (8th picture) and Poached Lettuce (9th picture). As a whole, the food is really above average and the food does not have much MSG, unlike other typical Chinese restaurants that put in tonnes of MSG in their food. The Hot-Plate Tofu consists of tofu with cai xin and minced pork, all of which melts in your mouth when you consume it. My father and I shared 3 stewed pork belly with lotus bun, which are NOT salty at all and tastes really fresh and tender. I love the Stewed Pork Belly with Lotus Bun served at Paradise Inn way more than 369 Depot! The Imperial Pork Ribs is very juicy and tastes really good! The Cereal Prawns is my family’s favourite as it is breaded with butter and cereal and the crispy factor is it’s X factor. Everyone kept craving for more! The Steamed Eggplant is cooked with minced pork and salted fish in claypot and the dish is delicious. Eggplants have and always been my favourite Chinese dish! The Poached Lettuce is topped with lots of supreme soya sauce – Salty but still bearable.

Even though my aunt has a restrictive diet, the food served at Paradise Inn is acceptable and one of the healthier choices for her. So the subsequent times that we had a gathering, we went to Paradise Inn again.

The next time we came, our fifth uncle and aunt came along as well. We had a bigger spread this time with their scrumptious Pomfret Fish (1st picture), Sauteed Asparagus (2nd picture), Wasabi Prawns (3rd & 4th pictures), Imperial Pork Ribs (5th picture), Cereal Prawns (6th picture), Hot-Plate Tofu (7th picture), Winter Melon Soup (8th picture), congee (9th picture), Sambal Fried Rice (10th picture), Taro Paste (11th picture) and Mango Sago (12th-13th pictures). The fish is so smooth and tender and it tastes good due to the black bean and garlic sauce. I did not eat much of the Sauteed Asparagus though but it is topped with spicy homemade sauce. The Wasabi Prawns is another highlight of the meal as the prawns are breaded and fried and topped with wasabi mayonnaise sauce – Definitely a MUST TRY! The Winter Melon Soup is awesome as the spare ribs is double-boiled and the soup has dried canopy in it as well. The Sambal Fried Rice had fermented peas in it and that is what makes the fried rice dish so fragrant! Both desserts are spectacular as well – The warm Sweet Taro Paste has sweet potatoes that adds to the saccharine taste of the paste and the Mango Sago is really refreshing to the palate.

Did not take anymore pictures in the subsequent dine out at Paradise Inn because the order was more or less the same. Also, I could not take pictures of any of the receipts because my aunt, father and other relatives always snatch to pay the bill – A very hilarious Chinese tradition we have!
