My business associate and I had a meeting with Fairmont Hotel for one of our business projects. The responses we got was not too bad – something to learn about. After which, I was a little hungry so we walked around the basement of Raffles City. We were spoilt for choices because every restaurant has their specialities. I wanted to have desserts and Milton wanted to get beverages so we settled for Out Of The Pan.

For many of you who do not know, Fairmont Hotel, Stamford Hotel, Raffles Hotel & Merchant Court are under Swissôtel. Out of the Pan is also under the same company. The restaurant is an unenclosed area at the basement of Raffles City. Not many tables are available there but that portrays exclusiveness. The restaurant is also in front of the beautiful water fountain at Raffles City so we chose the seat directly in front of the water fountain. The menu is funky as seen above and the servers are very polite.  They were very patient as we took quite a long time to decide what to get.

1st to 3rd pictures – There was actually a one-for-one savoury crepes promotion that afternoon but since my business associate does not want to eat and I had cravings for sweet delights so we did not take that promo. I had the Chocolate Mania Waffle Crepe, which costs SGD$14. It was not like any other crepes. They used chocolate waffle crepes to wrap the glazed bananas, added a scoop of dark chocolate ice cream at the side, topped the dessert with icing sugar, added a raspberry and blueberry at the side as well and added a final touch using chocolate sauce to do up a flower on the plate itself. Although I am not a HUGE chocolate fan, the dessert tastes finger-licking good ! The chocolate just melts in your mouth and the glazed banana complements the saccharine taste of the chocolate. Also, my business associate who does not usually eat desserts loves it as well.

4th picture – My business associate had the Smooth Storm Smoothies, which is such a waste of money – SGD$7.50 ! The beverage consists of blended guava and lychee with coconut milk and pineapple juice added to it. It tastes really weird as the coconut milk is too saturated that we could not taste the guava or lychee at all. Both my business associate and I did not like it a single bit.

The total bill came up to SGD$25.31, inclusive of 10% service charge and 7% GST and this is not even a meal. The living cost in Singapore is really way too high right now.

In conclusion, dine at Out of the Pan for mouthwatering desserts but avoid having their Smooth Storm Smoothies.
