i have been wanting to head to gypsy cafe for the longest time when i first heard of it. however, i went there last summer with janet and it was closed at 4pm. i was quite shocked at how early they close. i went there with fae for my birthday and tried the feta, spinach crepes with mushrooms and it was so good ! so i decided to come again last thursday with jenn.

the owner did not allow me to take any pictures of the interior of the cafe so i just had to respect her decision. the cafe is just like blenz & starbucks as it is a self-service cafe – you got to order and make your payment before getting your food from the counter. also, you got to get your own utensils and cup of water from the side counter. the place is rather simple and cozy but i wouldn’t think much of their service. i just love their food !

1st & 2nd pictures – we had the feta, spinach crepes with mushrooms and eggplants. the crepe is so fluffy and light and with the combination of the mushrooms, spinach and eggplants, it literally melts in your mouth, especially when you consume it when it’s hot. usually, some people i know do not like eggplants due to it’s slimy texture but the texture of the eggplant in the crepes is very tender and not as grainy. the spinach and mushrooms are really well-cooked and it brings out a good mouthfeel.

3rd & 4th pictures – jenn and i also shared a crepe with apple, cinnamon and maple syrup topped with icing sugar. the owner is generous as there are many slices of apples stuffed in the crepes. normally when i order crepes with apple and cinnamon powder in other crepes places, i could not taste the cinnamon at all. however, the taste of the cinnamon in the crepes that i have ordered is prominent. i found the slices of apple a little dry so the cinnamon powder and icing sugar complement it’s taste. after finishing the crepes, jenn and i realized that we totally forgot all about the maple syrup. that explains why i did not enjoy my crepes due to it’s dryness. what i like about the crepe though is the crispy factor.

we paid a total of CAN$20, inclusive of tips and tax for both crepes.
