i went to meet up with my joyce homies 2 days after i came back from my trip because i haven’t met up with them for a week. we usually eat together and such so 2 days ago, we decided to have joyce jiaozi since frans did not want to travel so far. had to travel from joyce to metro and back to joyce because of the miscommunication.

i have always passed by joyce jiaozi for the longest time but did not think much about it because no one has ever recommended it to me. i will always head to goto king and cucina manila instead. however, jackson, frans, shawn & milton frequent there and thus, i decided to give it a try. the place looks rather simple but it is clean and decent. do not underestimate this small restaurant based on it’s looks ! i know i did and i was proven wrong by jackson, frans and shawn ! the owner is really friendly and never fails to smile. her daughter helps out at times and she is very adorable.

1st and 2nd pictures – i always crave for noodles in soup whenever i head out so jackson recommended beef and noodle in soup (CAN$6) to me. i requested for a rather spicy one but i got a mild spicy beef noodles in soup.  the taste was not bad at all. the beef and noodles were given in generous amount. the soup consist of a rather concentrated stewed beef but it is not thick so that is perfect ! i could not finish my share as it was serve in such a HUGE portion !

3rd picture – jackson had the shredded pancake with pork and vegetables for CAN$7. it is one of his favorite dish because it is juicy, not too oily but still as tasty. the texture of the pancake is good and the vegetables are chosen carefully so it is well mixed. the smell and sweetness of the cabbage help to bring out the flavor of the pancake and meat.

4th picture – both shawn and frans had the deep fried salt and pepper chicken with rice each (CAN$7). it includes the swirl tomato, vegetables and egg. i found it rather appealing to the eye but did not get to try it. frans saw shawn’s order and fell in love with it at first sight. thus, he ordered it as well.

5th picture – all of us shared a plate of shrimp and pork dumpling for CAN$5.50. it is rather succulent and addictive. even though frans is allergic to shrimp, he continued consuming it as it is THAT gratifying ! shrimps taste BEST when it is fresh and i am sure it is fresh because the shrimp brought out most of the taste of the dumpling.

6th picture – last but not least, we shared a plate of fried yam in hot toffee worth CAN$10. it is one of the BEST deep fried chinese desserts i ever had !! it taste just like deep fried yam covered in caramel and topped with sesame, which is absolutely palatable !! the toffee is mostly made with peanut oil and rock sugar. it is best eaten when it is hot as the yam sticks to the plate as soon as it gets colder.
