mango

it was close to ci retty’s birthday and we got the information that she likes mango cake and green tea cake so we were contemplating between the two and we chose mango. bella suggested marui bakery as she saw how the cake it topped with lots of mangos. since i frequently order chocolate cakes, tiramisus and nothing fruit related, i asked bella to make an order for the 10″ cake.

i did not enter the bakery for the first time as i was doing some last minute decorations for ci retty’s present in vincent’s car so he went in himself to collect the cake. he came out empty handed as he realized it was CASH ONLY, what a bummer ! so vincent had no choice but to go to the ATM nearby to withdraw cash. as for me, i went to marui bakery the first time with fine after that visit. i absolutely love the aroma of the bakery as it has the scent of freshly baked breads and such. the baker’s wife is the cashier and she is pretty patient with cutting the cake into slices for fine and myself and allowing us to take pictures and such.

10″ mango cake – CAN$54

mango cake

firstly, i’m impressed with the amount of mangos used in the cake. some mango cakes consist of too little mango but the ones at marui didn’t disappoint. secondly, the mangos are fresh and succulent. i’m AMAZED ! no wonder, there’s a HUGE price difference between the mango cake and fruity cake.

10″ fruity cake – CAN$39.80

(this is NOT the actual cake of tante yani’s as i took photo of the 6″ cake the following visit as no one else took photo of the actual cake)

i ordered a cake for tante yani during closing the night before the birthday surprise itself. the baker’s wife told me that it can only be collected at 1.30PM the following day. i did not surprise tante yani as i had a dinner appointment for my belated birthday. the only review i got from people are that the fruity cake taste good but not as good as the mango cake.

6″ tapioca mango cake – CAN$21

i got this on my first and recent visit on monday. i was craving for cakes during my studying session with fine so she accompanied me all the way from gilmore to joyce to consume cakes. we decided to get the 6″ tapioca mango cake as we wanted to try something new. we ate a slice each and i asked fine to take the rest home as i was carrying lots of stuff. she cut two slices for me two days later and it was still as appetizing. i like how the tapioca compliments the mango. you know how in some places, you feel so cheated by the little amount of fruit fillings in the cake ? well, i feel the exact opposite for marui bakery.
